Dawn Of Time

History

Whilst wandering around Skye Studios Lila came across some interesting terrain which inspired her to make a Dinosaur themed course. Using a myriad of models “Dawn Of Time”, an interesting Hybrid course, was born. This course is a mix of odd “steeples” using dinosaurs and logs as jumps and gate slaloms. Set in a rocky pre-historic landscape, you get a real impression of traveling back in time to when the dinosaurs ruled the wold.

Description

Race type: Single run
Running and jumping.

Cross the start line of this large hybrid course and get teleported back to the prehistoric ages where dinosaurs ruled the earth. This hybrid course covers 3780 square meters and 35 gates.

The course starts with a Jump over the dinosaur egg nest. Pass through gates 2, 3 and 4 and then up onto the raised bedrock. Gate 6 a jump over the Velociraptor. Through gate 7 and then over the sorry looking Brontosaurus hunting for fish in the stream.

Three easy gates follow (10, 11 and 12) and then over the first felled pine tree (13).

Up a steep climb into the mountain leads to gate 15, 16 and 17, then over the makeshift log bridge to gate 18.

A precarious stone arch leads to gates 19, 20 and 21.

Back down from the mountains and it’s all about the wild life. Gate 24 is the Tyranosaurus. The Triceratops is Gate 25.

Jump the tar pit Gate 26 (A misstep will have you preserved for all time so take care pony) Then make a sharp turn to pass through Gate 27.

Another velociraptor lies in wait a little further along. Gate 28 then another felled pine three Gate 29.

Finish the course with a large arc then over the brontosaurus Gate 31.

Zigzag through gate 33 under the arched rock, and the last two gates 34 and 35 who bring you safely to the end crossing.

Congratulations, you have survived the Dawn of Time.

Tips

  • Gate 1, don’t jump from too far away. The slope is deceptive.
  • jump from between Gate 7 to cross both the stream and Bronty’s neck at the same time landing on the bedrock between the posts of Gate 9.
  • At Gate 31jump over the long tail, orienting yourself towards the easy gate 32
  • Don’t feed the dino’s. They have delicate stomachs (ie they only eat ponies).
  • Rezz the course from beyond the line in the neighboring sim (The Branded Pony) or parts of the landscape will not rezz properly.

Description

A simple barrel slalom consisting of 6 barrels and a single jump. The required path is marked on the ground as a simple line to follow. The final jump is not excessively high but a slight turn is useful whilst passing though the hoop.

Tips

  • Follow the defined path
  • Most barrels require over 180 degrees, ensure you have enough movement for your mouse
  • Curve your jump through the last hoop

Corn Maze Course

History

The corn maze came from the need for a fall and Halloween themed course.

Created by

The maze was created by Gedeon (gedeon.hawkes), with the gate slaloms and steeple jumps added by Lila (liviana.benelli)

Description

Although this is a relatively small course at only 2852 square meters, it’s quite a complex maze and easy to get lost in it. Inside the maze are 19 obstacles, either hay bales that need jumping or slalom gates that need to be passed through. These obstacles serve two purposes. Firstly they are there to get in your way and slow you down, but secondly, when you find one, you at least know you are on the right track.

Tips

  • Be careful when you fault on a hay bale jump you can easily get boosted over a wall, skipping several gates in the process
  • If you look carefully, every so often, previous generations of ponies have scratched makers into the dirt to help you get through the maze….. probably in blood…… from frustration. A clue

Flintstones

History

Inspired by some fun comic terrain found on Marketplace, they tallied nicely with some comic textures already purchased. Combining them and the Flintstones course was created which in the end became a hybrid course.

The concept of the runaway boulders was taken from a course at WPG which had balls rolling down ramps. The scripts for triggering the runaway rocks was created by Jezzie (Jez Mertel)

Description

Welcome to the prehistoric world of The Flintstones, where health and safety have not yet been invented. This prehistoric course covers 6840 square meters and is a hybrid course consisting of barrels, jumps and gate slaloms. As a ponygirl, your goal is to safely navigate this rocky world.

The course takes you to the top of the Flintstones world before descending and exploring their living accommodations and transportation. Pony carts were not invented in the days of the caveman.

On the ascent to the top of this rocky world, look out for runaway boulders. Navigate the narrow rock bridge to the plateau where some wild palm trees are sprouting.

Heading down a couple of ladders you have to jump stacks of logs whilst winding down a narrow path in the rock face.

Zip through the slalom posts and through the house carved into the rocks. Then back out and dodge around the house, the palm trees and the rock car to finish the course.

Tips

  • Get your timing right when jumping the boulders. Be aware of the next one about to come down the hill.
  • Jump over the stone bridge for speed.
  • When decending and jumping the log piles, ensure you don’t jump too far else you’ll twist an ankle and be stalled for a second or so.

Canyon Ranch Steeple

History

This course was a gift from Sammy Palletier (AKA pony Kupkake). It was originally at K’Bar Ranch but when it was moved to FFF the name changed to Canyon Ranch Steeples. Kupkake transferred it to FFF and did most of the landscaping.

Description

A fun but challenging mix of 32 tree trunks, gates and slalom gates on a western landscape. On this run only walking and jumping is allowed.

The course starts with seven wooden gates in a zigzag line on flat ground. Then, a single gate is mounted on a small hillock, followed by a double gate further down.

The next obstacle, yet another double gate, hidden behind the canyon wall on the right. Once that is surmounted, continue down the slope over a gate on the left and a sharp turn further to the left over wooden tree trunks.

Through the canyon, reach the single gate at the end, and continue to the left with the raised double gate.

Then, three tree trunks in 180 degree emplacement lead around to the top of the canyon over yet another tree trunk gate. Don’t jump this too early as you need to clear the gap across the canyon.

Down the top, a series of 5 double slalom gates lead to a double gate and a tree trunk gate on top of the last hill. Down that hill, five more slalom gates take you around a pond and over a short ridge all the way to a last double barrier, a final slalom gate and across the finish line.

Tips

  • Don’t get distracted by whinnying or mooing. The animals will be fed shortly.
  • Most gates can be negotiated without walking steps in between. Even some uphill barriers are best jumped directly.
  • Jump instead of walk over larger distances between obstacles.
  • Watch out for the sheer drop after gate 25. It’s the perfect point for a pony to throw a shoe or sprain an ankle.

Hooves On Fire

History

The third course ever built at Frill Filly Farm by Lila and assisted by Gedeon. Initially it was thought that this would be an interesting project built around a volcano, however, do to the sculpted nature of the model, every level had to be backed up with solid prims to prevent falling through.

Description

This massive course covers 4340 sqm and is built into the side of an active volcano.

The course starts with dodging back and forth over the active lava streams before mounting the volcano proper. This is the point when the pony must channel their inner Mountain Goat and jump from ledge to ledge until they reach the pinnacle of the volcano.

Once false move will send thme back to the ground or even worse falling in and getting trapped inside the volcano itself. At the top, follow the slalom zig zagging in and out of the posts before taking the plunge and jump blindly into an active chimney.

Some quick footwork will avoid burnt hooves then its back to zipping in and out of more gate slaloms to the start line.

Tips

  • Get ready for the landing on the lava flow a the bottom of the chimney
  • Jumping between gates will speed things up.
  • Contrary to what you may think, landing in the Lava does not cause a fault.
  • At Gate 12, there is no need to loop behind it, pass between gate 12 and 13 for speed.

Frilly Fishy Fun

History

Initial ideas for this course were vague, but it was intended to be something new and unique and not simply a copy of another aquarium. Mucku (muckumamu) offered some suggestions to include sea mines and this was the trigger to get the creative juices flowing.

This fun course is dedicated to all the mermaids (and merponies) of FFF.

Description

Step into the Frilly Fish Fun Aquarium. This is a ‘There and Back’ gate slalom course with 24 double gates to navigate, circle the sea mine at the end and then retrace your steps.

Along the way you will encounter many ocean seabed obstacles and wild life, including sea mines, skeletons, crab traps and even a crashed aeroplane.

This challenging course takes you through many underwater structures, dodging discarded fishing tackle and over a rough stone bridge needs, beware of loose rocks. The tank sharks are rumoured to enjoy meals from clumsy ponies.

An underwater ruin presents a particular challenge with gates hidden inside that only come into view once you have entered the structure. The three gates inside are relatively well aligned and the necessary movements can quickly be learned with muscle memory.

Look out for the sharks and other fishes and if you begin to run short of breath there are some bubbles rising from underwater supplies.

Most of the gates are situated along a narrow underwater ridge. However, some of the gates require sharp turns to make and, on the side of the ridge, can be challenging to navigate.

When reaching the sea mine, run around it and head back along the ridge to the start line. Don’t come too close to the mine though.

Tips

  • The Sharks don’t really bite. (Although they are solid objects)
  • In the outbound direction, when going up the ridge is best performed with a jump.
In the return direction, it is better to continue running.
  • Touching a mine sets it to explode. Consequently the pony is shot straight up, thus costing time and possibly ringing ears.
  • Apply sunset environmental settings for a better ambience. Or better yet an underwater environmental setting.

Floating Islands

History

This particularly challenging course was created by Lila (Liviana Benelli) around 2018. This was a particularly productive period, with many old courses being repaired old and new courses being designed. Chianna developed new sensors for the raised pads, as well as a broadcasting system built into the floor to create a commentary when a pony falls.
This course took inspiration from the movie Avatar as well as a cloud steeple course at another stable which lead to the creation of the very original course we have today.

Created by

Lila (Liviana Benelli)

Description

The course consists of 22 floating pads and begins with a ramp to launch off arrive at the first pad. This is followed by a series of 17 floating pads that a pony must land on in sequence. Most of the pad require a jump however once the you have achieved the highest pad there are some that can be descended simply by walking.

The floating pads are decorated with hanging vines in a lush green woodland. The ambience is that of tranquillity and the pads hang over a glittering rocky pool of water.

Between pad 17 and 18 is a rickety bridge clearly in need of some repair, this can be jumped for safety or walked along before jumping the remaining pads to the finish line.

Should a pony fall, the ground shouts warnings and encouragement, meant to be humorous however, some overly sensitive ponies get offended. This all goes to make the pony a better competitive creature.

Tips

  • This is a walking/jumping course.
  • Walk-jump off a pad, but then stop. Redirect your movement while coming down.
  • Some lower pads can be reached without jumping.
